Ingredients
  

Ice Cream Base
  • 1 cup heavy cream chilled
  • 1 cup milk whole or 2%
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Ice Bag
  • 3 cups ice
  • 1/2 cup salt rock salt or kosher salt

Method
 

Prepare Ice Cream Base
  1. In a large bowl, whisk together the heavy cream, milk, sugar, and vanilla extract until the sugar is dissolved.
Assemble the Bags
  1. Pour the ice cream mixture into a zip-top bag and seal it tightly, removing as much air as possible.
  2. In another larger zip-top bag, add the ice and salt.
  3. Place the sealed bag with the ice cream mixture inside the larger bag with ice and seal it tightly.
Shake and Freeze
  1. Shake the bags vigorously for about 5-10 minutes until the mixture thickens and hardens to your desired consistency.
  2. Carefully remove the smaller bag from the larger bag and wipe off any salt before opening.
Serve
  1. Scoop the ice cream into bowls and enjoy immediately.
