Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast (1 packet)
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup whole milk (warm)
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter (melted)
  • 2 large eggs (room temperature)
  • 2 cups fresh cherries (pitted and chopped)
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 2 cups powdered sugar (for icing)
  • 3 tbsp milk (for icing)

Instructions

  1. Warm the milk until lukewarm. In a bowl, mix warm milk with yeast and let sit until foamy (about 5 minutes). Stir in melted butter and sugar.
  2. Beat in eggs one at a time, then gradually mix in flour until a sticky dough forms.
  3. Flour your work surface and knead the dough for about 5 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl covered with plastic wrap. Let it rise in a warm place until doubled in size (about 1 hour).
  5. Roll out the dough into a rectangle, spread chopped cherries evenly on top, and sprinkle with cinnamon.
  6. Roll up tightly and slice into 12 pieces. Place cut-side up in a greased baking dish, cover, and let rise again while preheating your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  7. Bake for approximately 30 minutes until golden brown. Drizzle with icing made from mixing powdered sugar and milk.
