Ingredients

Cake Base
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 pinch salt
Filling
  • 1 cup heavy cream whipped
  • 1 cup fresh fruits such as strawberries or peaches
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
Topping
  • 1/2 cup chocolate ganache optional
  • 1/4 cup fresh fruits for garnish

Method

Prepare the Cake
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour the cake pan.
  2. In a mixing bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. In another bowl, combine flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add to the creamed mixture alternately with milk.
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth the top.
  6. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  7. Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
Assemble the Torta
  1. Once the cake is cool, slice it in half horizontally to create two layers.
  2. Spread the whipped cream over the bottom layer, then add fresh fruits and sprinkle with powdered sugar.
  3. Place the top layer of the cake on the filling, then spread chocolate ganache on top if desired.
  4. Garnish with additional fresh fruits before serving.
