Ingredients
  

Dough
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 1 packet active dry yeast
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon green food coloring optional for color
Baking Soda Solution
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 tablespoon baking soda
Toppings
  • 1 tablespoon coarse sea salt

Method
 

Prepare the Dough
  1. In a mixing bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
  2. Add flour, salt, vegetable oil, and green food coloring to the yeast mixture. Mix until a dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth. Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 20 minutes.
Shape the Pretzels
  1. Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Divide the dough into 4 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a long rope and shape into a shamrock.
Bake the Pretzels
  1. In a saucepan, bring water and baking soda to a boil. Carefully dip each shaped pretzel into the boiling solution for 30 seconds.
  2. Remove pretzels and place them on the prepared baking sheet. Sprinkle with coarse sea salt.
  3. Bake for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown. Allow to cool slightly before serving.
