Ingredients
  

Base Ingredients
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon peppermint extract
  • 1 cup chocolate chips semi-sweet or dark
  • a few drops green food coloring optional

Method
 

Prepare the Ice Cream Base
  1. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the heavy cream, whole milk, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, and peppermint extract until the sugar is dissolved.
  2. If desired, add a few drops of green food coloring to achieve a minty color.
Chill the Mixture
  1. Cover the bowl and refrigerate the mixture for at least 2 hours or until thoroughly chilled.
Churn the Ice Cream
  1. Pour the chilled mixture into an ice cream maker and churn according to the manufacturer's instructions until it reaches a soft-serve consistency.
Add Chocolate Chips
  1. During the last few minutes of churning, add the chocolate chips to the mixture.
Freeze the Ice Cream
  1. Transfer the churned ice cream to a freezer-safe container and freeze for at least 2 hours to firm up.
