Ingredients

For the Salmon
  • 1 lb salmon fillet Fresh or thawed; ensure it has skin on for added flavor and moisture.
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter Adds richness; you can substitute with olive oil for a lighter option.
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice Freshly squeezed is best for vibrant flavor; use bottled in a pinch.
  • 3 cloves garlic (minced) Fresh garlic delivers a robust taste; adjust based on your garlic preference.
  • 1 teaspoon salt Kosher salt is ideal, but table salt works if you adjust the quantity.
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper Freshly ground provides the best flavor; you can use cayenne for a kick.
For the Herbs
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley (chopped) Adds freshness and color; try dill or basil for different flavors.
  • 1 teaspoon lemon zest Brightens the dish; be sure to zest only the yellow part of the lemon.
For Wrapping
  • 1 large piece aluminum foil Ensures even cooking and keeps all the juices inside.

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Prepare the foil sheets by cutting them into large pieces, about 12x18 inches.
  3. Mix the lemon garlic butter by combining melted butter, minced garlic, and fresh lemon juice in a small bowl.
  4. Place the salmon fillet on each piece of foil, skin-side down. Drizzle generously with the lemon garlic butter mixture.
  5. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Sprinkle some fresh herbs like dill or parsley for added freshness.
  6. Fold the foil over the salmon to create a sealed packet.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes until the salmon is opaque and flakes easily with a fork.
  8. Serve immediately by carefully unwrapping the foil packets.
