Catfish Fillets
  • 4 pieces catfish fillets skinless
Breading Mixture
  • 1 cup cornmeal for coating
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour for coating
  • 1 tablespoon paprika for flavor
  • 1 teaspoon salt to taste
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper to taste
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder optional
Wet Mixture
  • 1 cup buttermilk for soaking
Oil
  • 4 cups vegetable oil for frying

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Soak the catfish fillets in buttermilk for at least 15 minutes.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine cornmeal, flour, paprika, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder.
Frying
  1. Heat vegetable oil in a deep fryer to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Remove catfish from buttermilk and dredge in the breading mixture, ensuring an even coat.
  3. Carefully place the coated catfish fillets into the hot oil and fry for about 5 minutes on each side or until golden brown.
  4. Remove the fried catfish and drain on paper towels.
Serving
  1. Serve hot with your choice of sides, such as coleslaw or fries.
