Ingredients
  

Burger Patties
  • 1 pound ground beef 80/20 lean-to-fat ratio
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
Burger Toppings
  • 4 slices cheddar cheese optional
  • 4 buns burger buns toasted
  • 1 cup lettuce shredded
  • 1 tomato sliced
  • 1/2 cup pickles sliced
  • 1/4 cup ketchup to taste
  • 1/4 cup mustard to taste

Method
 

Prepare the Patties
  1. In a mixing bowl, combine ground beef, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Mix gently until just combined.
  2. Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions and shape them into patties.
Grill the Burgers
  1. Preheat the grill to medium-high heat.
  2. Place the patties on the grill and cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until they reach an internal temperature of 160°F.
  3. If using cheese, add a slice to each patty during the last minute of cooking to melt.
Assemble the Burgers
  1. Toast the burger buns on the grill for about 1 minute.
  2. Place the cooked patties on the bottom half of each bun.
  3. Top with lettuce, tomato, pickles, ketchup, and mustard as desired. Cover with the top half of the bun.
