Ingredients
  

Tapioca Pearls
  • 1 cup tapioca pearls black or white
  • 4 cups water for boiling
  • 1 cup brown sugar for syrup
  • 1 cup water for syrup
Tea Base
  • 4 cups water for brewing tea
  • 4 teaspoons black tea leaves or 4 tea bags
  • 1 cup milk or non-dairy alternative
  • 2 tablespoons sweetener optional, adjust to taste

Method
 

Prepare Tapioca Pearls
  1. Boil 4 cups of water in a large pot.
  2. Add the tapioca pearls to the boiling water and stir gently.
  3. Cook for about 15-20 minutes until they are translucent and chewy.
  4. Remove from heat and let sit for an additional 5 minutes.
  5. Strain the pearls and rinse them under cold water.
  6. In a separate pot, combine 1 cup of brown sugar and 1 cup of water to make the syrup. Heat until the sugar dissolves.
  7. Add the cooked tapioca pearls to the syrup and let them soak for at least 10 minutes.
Prepare Tea
  1. In a separate pot, bring 4 cups of water to a boil.
  2. Add the black tea leaves or tea bags and steep for 5 minutes.
  3. Remove the tea leaves or bags and let the tea cool slightly.
  4. Add milk and sweetener to the tea, adjusting to taste.
Assemble Boba Tea
  1. In serving glasses, add a few spoonfuls of the tapioca pearls.
  2. Pour the prepared tea over the pearls.
  3. Serve with a wide straw and enjoy!
