Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef (80% lean)
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp freshly ground pepper
  • 4 burger buns
  • Toppings: lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles, cheese (as desired)
  • 2 tbsp ketchup
  • 1 tbsp mustard

Instructions

  1. Preheat your grill to medium-high heat.
  2. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, salt, and pepper. Form into four patties about 1 inch thick.
  3. Make an indentation in the center of each patty to prevent puffing while cooking.
  4. Grill patties for about 4 minutes on one side until grill marks form, then flip and cook for an additional 3 minutes for medium-rare.
  5. Toast burger buns cut-side down on the grill for about 1 minute until lightly toasted.
  6. Assemble your burger by layering sauce on one bun half, adding the grilled patty, and piling on your desired toppings before topping with the other bun half.
