Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb 80/20 ground beef
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 4 burger buns
  • 4 slices American cheese
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tbsp ketchup
  • 1 tbsp Dijon mustard
  • 2 tbsp finely chopped pickles
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder

Instructions

  1. Gather all ingredients and preheat a skillet or griddle over medium-high heat.
  2. Form the ground beef into four loose balls (about a quarter pound each) without overworking them.
  3. Place the beef balls onto the hot skillet and smash them down with a spatula until about half an inch thick.
  4. Season each patty generously with salt and pepper while cooking for about two minutes without moving them.
  5. Carefully flip each burger, place a slice of cheese on top, and cook for another two minutes until melted.
  6. In a small bowl, mix together mayonnaise, ketchup, Dijon mustard, chopped pickles, and garlic powder to create the house sauce.
  7. Assemble your burgers by spreading house sauce on both sides of the buns and adding the cooked patties along with any additional toppings you like.
