Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup warm milk
  • 2¼ tsp active dry yeast (1 packet)
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ cup melted butter
  • 1 cup cooked sausage or bacon (chopped)
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar or mozzarella cheese

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, mix warm milk and sugar, then sprinkle yeast on top. Let it sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
  2. In a large bowl, combine flour and salt. Make a well in the center and add melted butter and frothy yeast mixture. Stir until dough forms.
  3. Knead on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth.
  4. Place dough in an oiled bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  5. Punch down the risen dough and roll it out into a rectangle. Sprinkle with sausage or bacon and cheese before rolling tightly into a log shape.
  6. Slice into rolls, place in a greased baking dish, cover, and let rise again for another 30 minutes while preheating the oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
