Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter (113g)
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar (100g)
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar (100g)
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour (220g)
  • 1 cup semi-sweet or dark chocolate chips (170g)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a muffin tin with paper liners or lightly grease it.
  2. In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the unsalted butter until golden brown and nutty, about five minutes. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine granulated sugar, brown sugar, and browned butter. Add eggs and vanilla extract; whisk until frothy.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add this dry mixture to the wet ingredients until just combined. Gently fold in chocolate chips.
  5. Fill each muffin cup about two-thirds full with batter. Bake for 18–20 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean or with just a few chocolate crumbs. Cool on wire racks.
